Every year we gather to celebrate the cultural diversity of our Village Montessori community. Our family picnic is a fun day where students, parents, and teachers from our school can spend some time together. The kids are always so happy with these events! International Day Celebration is a significant part of our program. It brings up so many subjects to be worked in class, and for the weeks before the event the kids learn about different languages, their origins, they also explore maps, flags, music and food specialties from different countries. In a multicultural city like Miami, remembering and learning where we come from is so important. Understanding and getting to know the cultural background behind each of us gives an opportunity to connect from a perspective of higher respect and tolerance.
